Why I Love 'Scrubs'

I love the way Scrubs mixes goofy comedy with some quite touching moments.

I caught the pilot episode of Scrubs the other day, which was JD's first day on the job, and he got lumbered with being the only on-call doctor that night (I know, not very realistic, but it sets the scene). Obviously, he's stricken with panic.

There's one shot where he's standing there in normal speed, looking lost, whilst in the background the other hospital staff are going about their daily business, but at maybe double normal speed. David Grays' "Please Forgive Me" starts playing... if you don't know it, David sings in a slow pace, but there's a fast percussion beat going on (like JD in normal speed, background at double speed). Then the lyrics cut in...

"Please forgive me
If I act a little strange
For I know not what I do.
Feels like lightning running through my veins... (fade)".


Magic. Pure magic.

Oh. And god bless abc1 for not showing many adverts. They rock!
