And So It Begins...

rss feed for this post's comments

Up till yesterday, the wee man hardly said "What's that?", unless he heard something he didn't recognise.

Today, he walks into a room and says "What's that?" pointing at a different thing each time. Sounds like a verbal machine gun going off...

It's part of the psychological development of a child:

The Discovery Phase
Ages: 2-3 years old:
Question: "What's that?"

The Cause-Effect Phase:
Ages: 3-5 years old
Question: "Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?"

The Negative Cause-Effect Phase:
Ages: 5-12 years old
Question: "Why can't I?"

The Motivation Phase:
Ages: 12-16
Question: Who's gonna make me? Says who? Why should I?

The Consequences Phase:
Ages 16-25
Question: So what?

The Worldly-Weary Phase:
Ages: 25 till death
Question: Oh, what's the fucking point?
