Been wondering for weeks why I can't FTP from the work laptop. Not via Cute FTP, not via DOS, not via IE. Not from work, not from home, not via VPN. Oh, they all connect, don't they? Just can't get a directory listing of the remove server.
Get this. In their infinite wisdom, Microsucks have decided that the PORT connection type is no longer viable. You have to use PASV instead. Even if you've got their firewall turned off.
Thanks guys. You've been a great help. When SP3 comes out, why not disable http connections, and only let https work. That'll make XP more secure, won't it???

BBC NEWS | Technology | Physics promises wireless powerThis'll be fantastic when it's available widely.
At least, it will be until the inevitable "Oops, it's just like mobiles, so if you fear cancer, don't use it" scares start...
So after a week in the clean-living, clean-eating, clean-streeting, clean-everything-ing Singapore, I got the train to work this morning.
Sat in the shelter, out of the icy cold rain, I thought I'd read the Metro to get me back into home life (still feels wierd to not be looking well over the head and shoulders of loads of orientals).
There was a stack of metros on the floor, next to the metal box-thing that the metro normally sits in. The first one of the stack on the floor was heavily creased and had a big blue ink spot on the front, so I thought I'd pick the one on the top of the stack in the metal box-thing.
But when I looked into the box, what did I see?
Another pile of Metros?
No.
A turd. And a very human looking one at that.
Welcome home!
