And episode 10 is a nice set-up

rss feed for this post's comments

Looking good. #10 looked like it was going to be a bit of a filler, but has set things up nicely for the coming climax.

Looking forward to seeing how it all pans out!

Go Dollhouse

Episodes 7, 8, 9.... what a Fucking build-up to the last ever episodes! If the entire set of episodes so far had been this good, we'd be seeing a whole lot more than two series.

Dollhouse Warning (No Spoilers!)

rss feed for this post's comments

I've just realised I've missed a couple of episodes, one of which was one of the back-to-back episodes that showed (I think) last week, and one that I can't figure out how I've missed it.

Might be worth double-checking you've not done the same.

Best News I've Had All Week

rss feed for this post's comments

The Angels will have the phone box once again. Steven Moffat has revealed that the creepy Weeping Angels from "Blink" will return in the next season

Rock on!

But obviously without David Tennant

Doh!

But overall, what with David Tennant and Terry Wogan finishing imminently, it's a sad, sad moment in the history of Chez Blakey.

Oops!

rss feed for this post's comments

Just catching up on io9.com's great blog, and read this about Dollhouse. Wasn't sure whether it was reviewing the ep I've just watched, or whether I was one behind:

Most television shows either accept their limitations or transcend them. Dollhouse started out bashing its head against its limitations, before finally leaping over them. And after last night, I'm not sure it still has any. Spoilers and mindwipes ahead...

It's hard to believe this is still the same show that used to serve up timid "engagement of the week episodes" that only hinted at the questions that lurked in its premise. By my reckoning, this makes six outstanding Dollhouse episodes in a row. And what's more, the show is starting to race forward, at breakneck speed, as if to make up for its slow pace earlier.

Was it just me, or did your heart stop too when you read the words "Three months later"?
OK, that's SO not the one I've just watched, so I stopped there. My "reading the spoiler" days have stopped - they ruined the best bits of the last 3 series of Heroes, but I keep plodding on with it regardless.

Anyway, back to Dollhouse. Now, after reading that review, I can't wait to watch this episode!

The Pursuit of Happyness: Am I the only person who...

rss feed for this post's comments

... thought that as a father, Will Smith sucked.

The general population is raving about this film, about how he (and the real person it's based on) struck rock-bottom and then made it big as a stock-broker.

And how he took it to the limit in sacrificing everything in order to grab the unpaid internship he did for 6 months before qualifying as a broke.

About how he was courageous, faithful to his dreams, determined, a devoted father, etc.

I find that last bit odd, because in order to achieve his dream, he:
  • Dragged his kid away from his mother, for no valid reason that I can think of.
  • Slept rough on the streets with the kid (in a subway toilet, if I remember correctly).
  • Slept in hostels ... with the kid.
And so on.

Anyone else think he'd have been a better father (albeit a poorer one) if he'd just got a fucking job to keep a roof over his kid's head?

But it's all OK, as he went on to make more money than most of us can dream about. That's all right then.

I can see a new film coming: about how a father sacrifices everything to achieve his dream, including sleeping rough in hostels etc, and the kid catches TB and dies from lack of medical care because Medicaid didn't cover it.

Don't think they'll be praising the father's determination and faith in this movie, will they?

Three little words: "Ends", "Means", and "Justification".

Enver Gjokaj Rocks!

rss feed for this post's comments

Just watched the double-header of Dollhouse, with Summer Glau.

Love her librarian look.

Creamed myself over Enver Gjokaj - the eastern European guy. He's done some great accents in the past, but his role in these two episodes was nothing short of fucking amazing. Here's hoping that someone sees it and gives him some big juicy roles in the future. I won't say what he did, but the two episodes were really good - worth watching.

I want an iPhone

rss feed for this post's comments

There, I admit it!

But only for one app. You open it, select whether your child is a boy or girl, and how good / naughty they've been, and the phone 'calls Santa' who tells them how good they've been, or to buck their ideas up if view still want any presents!

Fantastic!

But not on android...

What's funnier about this?

Is it the concept of a bumper dumper, or the buy-line:

Use in Disaster Relief, Hurricane and Earthquake preparedness, and other situations where a sanitation situation may occur

I've added the italics in case you miss the point...
