And So It Begins...

rss feed for this post's comments

Up till yesterday, the wee man hardly said "What's that?", unless he heard something he didn't recognise.

Today, he walks into a room and says "What's that?" pointing at a different thing each time. Sounds like a verbal machine gun going off...

It's part of the psychological development of a child:

The Discovery Phase
Ages: 2-3 years old:
Question: "What's that?"

The Cause-Effect Phase:
Ages: 3-5 years old
Question: "Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?"

The Negative Cause-Effect Phase:
Ages: 5-12 years old
Question: "Why can't I?"

The Motivation Phase:
Ages: 12-16
Question: Who's gonna make me? Says who? Why should I?

The Consequences Phase:
Ages 16-25
Question: So what?

The Worldly-Weary Phase:
Ages: 25 till death
Question: Oh, what's the fucking point?

Wolverine, the Movie, is gonna blow big time.

rss feed for this post's comments

Mark my words. Remember where you heard it first.

Any film which has Sci-fi.com writing " Twentieth Century Fox has added three more superheroes to X-Men Origins: Wolverine..." is gonna be bad.

"three MORE superheroes".

There were three in Spidey 3. It sucked.

There were two plotlines in X-Men 3. It sucked.

When are they gonna learn: less is more.

Torchwood Rant Again. I'm disgusted, sickened, gagging...

rss feed for this post's comments

Just watched the last two episodes ("Meat" and "Reset"), and ... well, I'm just bloody disgusted.

The first one of the two had a strong plot element about Gwen (the Welsh bird) and Rhys (her non-Torchwood fiance), and ... get this.. they kept this bit hidden for a long time, didn't they... wait for it. Rhys is a "he". And Gwen is a "she". Which means it's a fucking hetero relationship!!!

It gets worse!

In "Reset" (no spoilers here), one of the Torchwood team asks out another one. And they're opposite genders as well. Hold on, one of them two also asked out another one of the team in "Adam", and that second person was also of the opposite sex.

That's three hetero encounters in three weeks. It's a fucking consiracy, I'm telling you!

How spooky is that?

rss feed for this post's comments

Just catching up on the latest episode of Torchwood ("The one where Martha Jones visits"), and she's investigating a spate of sudden deaths in south Wales, being described as suicides.

A bit close to the bone given the recent teenage/young adult suicide trend in Wales, but I'm sure the program was written first. Spooky, though, eh?

The Problem With Buying A New Car...

rss feed for this post's comments

... is knowing how everything works.

There's me, driving one day a week down to the office for the last two months, plus trips back and forth twice a day to drop off/pick up ma famille, thinking "OK, the car's nice, but it's not great on petrol". Maybe something to do with being a 1.8, whereas I'd previously only had 1.6s. But this has 6 gears and is about 3 centuries newer than my older ones... surely it must be more economical.

Drove down to the sister-in-law's the other weekend, stopping of at Grannie's for tea. As we drove off, she called us to say "there's a leak on the road where the car was."

Oh-oh.

Drove back. Sniffed it. Looked at it. Touched it. Almost dry already, clear, not oily. Couldn't figure out what it was.

Turns out it was something to do with having had the air-con on since the day we bought it 2 months earlier.

Guess that explains the petrol consumption :-)
