Feeling.... philosophical

Was sat reading tonight, with Grey's Anatomy on in the background, but I wasn't really watching it. When Grey (her with the annoying whiney voice) did her wrap up at the end, the background music caught my attention, so I did a little research, and it's a carol (it was the Xmas episode of Grey's), but one that I'd not heard before. Sung by Sixpence None The Richer.

The band name rung a bell, and it turns out the lead singer worked on one of the Delerium albums, on one of my favourite songs of theirs.

Anyways, one of the verses of the carol is:

O ye beneath life's crushing load,
Whose forms are bending low,
Who toil along the climbing way
With painful steps and slow;
Look now, for glad and golden hours
Come swiftly on the wing;
Oh rest beside the weary road
And hear the angels sing.

And hence my point of feeling philosophical... isn't it kinda sad that when we're bending low under life's crushing load, or even just when the day to day grind is starting to get to us, in this worldy-wise, ever-cynical, all-laid-bare, see behind-the-scenes world that we live in, that there's no way to experience awe and a sense that there's a deeper aspect to life behind the day-to-day crud.

Or, to put it another way, no way to just sit and listen to the angels sing....

Life sucks.

No Heroe's tonight.

Nor for another 7 weeks or something.

As I said, life sucks.
