John Noble (Denethor from Lord Of The Rings) is fucking brilliant in it. He deserves a best actor award, certainly.

Just when you think you've watched an archetypal filler episode, a 5 second shot of a pale man with no hair from episode 1(?) reminds you that there's a lot going on that you keep forgetting (just the teleported man from Germany who showed up in the previous episode, and who I'd already forgotten from when he first appeared).


Well worth a watch!

There are so many things I like about the new Dr Who Trailer:

1. The statues from "Blink"
2. The line "if you want to live to tomorrow, there's one thing you never, ever want to put in a trap: Me" (not an exact quote, but close enough)
3. SPACE BATTLES! WITH SPITFIRES APPARENTLY!
4. Daleks
5. Cybermen
6. It starts in a few weeks!

Can. Not. Wait.

Will miss David Tennant a wee bit, but judging by the trailer, I think the new boy will be good.

Enver Gjokaj Rocks!

Just watched the double-header of Dollhouse, with Summer Glau.

Love her librarian look.

Creamed myself over Enver Gjokaj - the eastern European guy. He's done some great accents in the past, but his role in these two episodes was nothing short of fucking amazing. Here's hoping that someone sees it and gives him some big juicy roles in the future. I won't say what he did, but the two episodes were really good - worth watching.

Today's wisdom is brought to you in a "statement:will I watch it" kind of way:

"It's sci-fi"
Possibly, because I like to give sci-fi a chance, even when it's a bad a filler as last night's Heroes episode, "Acceptance".

"It's based on Stargate"
Maybe. Stargate was alright. Didn't watch Stargate Atlantis, mind, and didn't watch the original series to really get the story arc, but reading up on said arc made me wish I'd stuck with it.

"It's got Robert Carlyle"
Oh. Quite possibly then. I like his stuff, normally.

"It's going to have Rhona Mitra".

Shocking. Abysmal. And downright pathetic

Yes, I'm talking The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Finally gotten round to watching the last few episodes:

Shocking: The ending (no spoilers). Some right little twists there.

Abysmal: The fact that NBC or whoever it is decided to cancel it, when it was really beginning to build up steam.

Downright pathetic: The way the scriptwriters made the IT geek working with the most advanced AI ever to have existed, and taught it Dungeons and Dragons. Because obviously all IT geeks still play D&D at that age. Fuck, even I gave up in my mid-twenties, and I'd only kept on going because it was like a modern-day poker night with the boys: beers, pizza/chinky, rude jokes, farting, bitching about the ladies, etc.

They've been at ComicCon recently (hasn't every major scif-fi blogger?), and went the Battlestar's orchestra show. Edward James Olmos (the Admiral himself) was compering.

But then, a good hour after my ticket said the show would start (which is admittedly pretty good for your average concert), I heard a voice. Thankfully, it was Edward James Olmos, introducing himself in Spanish over the microphone. I suddenly realized that this really was going to be Edward James Olmos leading us through the night's activities, not Bill Adama. He was not here to recite a greatest hits of his work on Battlestar Galactica. There would be no talk of toasters or skinjobs, how all this had happened before and would happen again (although considering there were concerts on Thursday and Saturday as well, he actually missed out on a good advertisting opportunity there). He did lead us all in a hearty round of "So say we all!", but that seemed to be the exception that proved the rule. And no, I'm not sure where my life can go now that I've chanted "So say we all!" with Edward James Olmos. I'm pretty sure I've peaked as a nerd.
Love that last bit!

Bionic Woman

Worth a watch. Although it's a bit odd to see Starbuck (major baddie in the series) and 'Chief' (minor role, probably a one-off) in a series together.

The girl from EastEnders (Michelle Ryan, is that right?) impressed me, even though I don't watch EastEnders and so haven't seen her before. OK American accent (to my ears), although there's a lot of complaints about the mock-Oirish guys in Heroes (by real Irish people) and I thought they were OK too.

I'll keep on watching it I think.
