Am Loving Fringe

rss feed for this post's comments

I thought I'd give Fringe a shot after

A) Caprica finished (though I've not yet watched the last ep, so don't spoil it)
B) NCIS has been on-off-on-off for weeks (how on earth do the Yanks put up with that shit - it had two weeks off, it's back for 1 episode, then it's off again for another week or to. Fucking unbelievable. And that's a series that you can basically dip in and out of. No wonder scifi - with it's usual emphasis on background development, long story arcs, etc - gets cancelled so often - people never know when the next episode is going to be on! Rant over...)
C) FlashForward kind of lost me after a 2 month break or whatever it was (see point B rant above). I might give it a shot later, but .... maybe not.

And Fringe is looking good. 10 eps into series 1. Series 2 is finished (I think), and series 3 has been approved.

Fuck me... A scifi series that actually lasted three series. Impressive!

If any of you saw Dr Who the other night, that was the moment Matt Smith BECAME The Doctor.

I only have one thing to say:

Oh Wonderful Mr Tennant, I loved you in Casanova. I loved you in Dr Who. But Matt's filled your shoes adequately so far. Long may it continue. And I think the "if you value you continued existence, there is one thing you never, ever put in a trap.... Me!" line that Matt's got coming up, plus the "Blink" angels, I think it'll continue for a while.

Well done Matt!

Just catching up on io9.com's great blog, and read this about Dollhouse. Wasn't sure whether it was reviewing the ep I've just watched, or whether I was one behind:

Most television shows either accept their limitations or transcend them. Dollhouse started out bashing its head against its limitations, before finally leaping over them. And after last night, I'm not sure it still has any. Spoilers and mindwipes ahead...

It's hard to believe this is still the same show that used to serve up timid "engagement of the week episodes" that only hinted at the questions that lurked in its premise. By my reckoning, this makes six outstanding Dollhouse episodes in a row. And what's more, the show is starting to race forward, at breakneck speed, as if to make up for its slow pace earlier.

Was it just me, or did your heart stop too when you read the words "Three months later"?
OK, that's SO not the one I've just watched, so I stopped there. My "reading the spoiler" days have stopped - they ruined the best bits of the last 3 series of Heroes, but I keep plodding on with it regardless.

Anyway, back to Dollhouse. Now, after reading that review, I can't wait to watch this episode!

My train of thought...

rss feed for this post's comments

"Hmmm. Wonder what Wikipedia has got to say about Dollhouse..."

"Tahmoh Penikett... Odd name. I'm normally pretty good with names, but no idea where that came from.... Oh, look, a Wikipedia entry on him, that's bound to say...."

(A few clicks later)

"Hmmm. Something to do with 'First Nations' who are apparently Canadian natives."

(Back to Tahmoh's wikipedia entry)

"Oh, he auctioned off lunch with one of his female Battlestar colleagues as a fundraiser. Don't recognise her name, 'Kandyse McClure'... who did she play?"

"Ah, 'Dee'. She had LOVELY eyes. Seriously lovely eyes. That Wikipedia photo is REALLY noy good though. But look, there's a link to her official website. Let's see..."

"OH MAMA!"

As much as I love Rhona Mitra, god bless her, I'm can happily (and salivatingly) announce that Ms Beckinsale has signed up for Underworld 4.

I've not seen 3 yet, but I will... as soon as The Mrs is away for a weekend... giving me time to watch Rhona two or three times, in slowmo, on a hired HD mega-large TV (or I'll just pinch Andi's and hope he doesn't notice!).

Could... no.. surely not... do you think... possibly... Rhona might sign up for #4 as well? I'll just die if that happens!

I mean it. I will die from overexposure to foxy posh bints in black leather....
